Dating opas mies

Update from Last Post

2020.09.19 18:03 The_Bistro Update from Last Post

Yea so my (21F) girlfriend broke up with me (23M) on Thursday. Pretty distraught about it.
Pretty much she just thinks she needs time for herself because we started dating so young and it scares her to be locked into this forever and doesn’t want to have any regrets. I wrote a letter to her when we first went on break. Basically a love letter. She replied “i appreciate that”. But things she did mention that made me happy was her mom and her friends said that this could be the largest mistake of her life. She wants to still text (after some time has passed) but i don’t know if i can forgive her. Maybe with time but i just cant imagine right now that that will happen.
Shes been with me through my fathers passing, and my opas passing (a year after the day before the first anniversary of my fathers passing). It feels like its all coming back up to the surface.
What i dont get is that i had these feelings too and i mentioned and worked on them with my therapist for three months (not the main reason i went to therapy). I told her what i went through and she apologized for not trying as hard as me.
I just dont know what to do next. 5 years is a long relationship and it fell apart in only a month. I still love her somehow but i just dont know. I really dont know. Do i start talking to people again? Do i wait a bit? I just wanna try to move on and do me because shes gonna be doing the same thing. It was the whole reason for the breakup.
Just wanted to give you guys the update on this. Though it wasnt as popular as the other posts a few peoples comments really helped me, so i thank you for that. It means a lot.

2020.08.13 15:46 StasiaMonkey 👏🏻GLOBAL👏🏻WARMING👏🏻IS👏🏻A👏🏻MYTH👏🏻 The oceans🌊 are rising⬆ from gaybros bussy🍑 juice🧃 streaming into your local creeks from stories like this. Serving you Sylvia Day's newest erotic novel 📖🍆✊🏻💦 - Just wait ladies!!! They're both "Str8"

Me (m18) and buddy (m19) have started jacking together at night without acknowledging it. Should I escalate!

(ok, grab your dildo, ladies)
So I’ve been staying with my buddy for the past 3 months now due to Covid related stuff
About a month ago I woke up late in the night and he was faced away from me. It was clear he was touching himself in some capacity. I thought about coughing or something but I thought that’d be more awkward plus I was kind of turned on by it. Finally he kinda sighs and I guess he came and wipes himself with something.
So now I’m more alert and paying attention. He starts doing this every night. It seems like he waits until he thinks I’m asleep and then starts. So I decide one night I’m going to fo it to see what he does. The first night I get nervous and don’t cum, but I can tell he’s only pretending to be asleep by his breathing.
So this continues, us jacking when the other is asleep. But it starts getting closer and closer us jacking as soon as possible to the point where we’re now just both immediately doing it and don’t face away anymore. We say goodnight, lay next to each other, put our hands in our underwear and jack it til we cum.
I want to grab him so bad when we do this and him jack me, but I don’t know if I should. It could be just a bro thing for him, but he also started putting his foot on my leg while we do it. He’s also started changing in front of me so his ass is just tantalizing me everyday.
What should I do? We’ve done all this without talking, my plan is to put my hand on his thigh and move up, give him time to reject it without explicitly asking?
TLDR: should I jack my friend who’s been silently masturbating wit me everynight
Edit: thanks for all the advice! Some people think I should talk first others say just go slow, I’m still thinking about it. And I’ll update y’all if I manage to work up the nerve to do something lol

But wait LADIES there's an update.

Update: Me and buddy jacking off without acknowledging it. Should I escalate?

Link to post where this bitch gets exposed for her fanfic ------- Archive
Thanks to everyone for the advice. I did not expect so much interest in my little experimentation lol. This is probably gonna be long but I figured most people would be interested in the sexy details lol so TLDR: we gayed
Before we get to the bed, there was some lead up. We were playing video games until around 11 pm, him in his briefs and me in my boxers. I was super horny but also sick nervous in anticipation of what could happen. I can’t describe how cute he was sitting there in his underwear. He asked if I was alright (I was being quieter than normal) and I say yeah I’m just a bit tired. It was kind of quiet and then he asked “are you too tired to stay up tonight?”
He didn’t even look at me, and it was so cleverly phrased for denial lol he’s good. “I don’t mind staying up a bit longer” I don’t even no what that meant, but we played video games a bit longer and then turn out the lights and lay in bed.
So we start as we always do, tugging our cocks in our underwear. We stay under the blanket so even if I peek I can’t see anything. His leg goes on top of mind THATS THE SIGNAL!! I wish I could say I was brave, but I felt like I was going to throw up. So I resign myself to try another night. But then this motherfucker moves his leg up so now his thigh is on my thigh! The nerve.
So I do it, I put my hand on his inner thigh and kind of run it til I get up to his crotch. My hand is where the thigh meets the briefs line and his balls are teabagging my hand. I move my hand up and bump his out of the way and start groping his bulge, his now free hand is on my stomach. He’s so damn hard and he’s full blown shaking. He suddenly grabs my hand and pulls it up on his stomach.
We lay there for what seems like forever while I feel so guilty if I crossed a line. He’s breathing really fast but we both now have our eyes open but not looking at each other. I really feel like I have to say something “was that to much?” “Nah man, you’re good” “Do you want me to keep doing it?” “I was about to cum and wasn’t sure if you were cool with that” “Oh yeah, I mean that’s the point isn’t it?” We laugh about it and I go back to it, he pulls his underwear off. I am now gripping his bare dick and it feels so smooth. He wasn’t joking about cumming, it happens almost right away.
He gets up turns the light on and gets a towel. I finally get to see his erection and it’s the cutest! He then says he can return the favor and duh I say yes. I don’t last much longer than him especially being able to see him naked while it happens.
So after that we joke about it, how we were both hinting towards it, how good it felt for someone else to do it, comparing cocks. We dodge around the “are you gay/bi” thing for a bit until we both slowly admit to each other that we like dudes.
We stayed up until 5 in the morning talking and groping each other’s butts and stroking each other’s erections when those sprung up. Eventually he blows me which is a whole separate thing which is too long to go into.
We both agree to wait until I’m moved out to consider dating, and we’ve said anal is off the table for now. He had to go to work at 8 this morning which sucked because we stayed up so late, but he hugged me really hard when he left which felt somehow better than the blowjob.
So that’s the base overview lol I’m super happy and excited, and waiting for him to get home.
Edit: people seem to think the story is fake now, which I get because it’s the internet lol I can’t proof anything, but I can say thank you again to everyone who gave advice

2020.05.08 04:53 CaimeiLookingUp Trying to Find a Lost Family Bible

Hi, forgive me if this might be a bit off topic, but this was the first place I thought would connect to this. My family fled East Germany to America a long time ago, and they had to leave behind a family Bible, inside of it were records of our family genealogy dating back to the 1700s. When I talk to my opa about our history he always mentions this Bible, and I’m hoping to try and find some way to try and find it or a copy of it if it still exists. I thought to mention it here, because it carries out genealogy inside, if this is off topic, please let me know and I’ll move it to a more appropriate subreddit. As someone currently in America, I’m not quite sure where to start searching for our lost history.
Update for more information: The Bible was lost 63 or 64 years ago in what my Opa calls Heinersdorf in Pankow district. It was left behind because they couldn’t take it or risk being caught fleeing.

2020.03.24 02:11 light5577 FUTURE : Excerp from cst

A little guide to "wtf is going on"
As many of you are already aware, the mainstream media is owned by six media conglomerates: GE, Disney, Viacom, Time Warner, CBS, News Corp
They have a major influence in what we talk and think about. This is not a conspiracy theory, but facts that can be easily proven with the Socratic method. Here is one example:
On November 5, 2017, hundreds of journalists from around the world gathered together to release the Paradise Papers, a compilation of financial records providing evidence of illegal tax evasion and laundering by some of the most wealthiest in the world, including the Queen of England.
On that exact same day, the Sutherland Springs Church shooting occurred and completely dominated the news cycle and the Paradise Papers was never discussed or seen from again.
What we are currently witnessing with the mainstream coverage of the coronavirus is a recognition of our cognitive dissonance which is why we feel as if something is off.
We are so used to believing what we are told that even when simple logic and statistics are applied, we will fall for the mob mentality (this term has a negative connotation when it can be expressed positively. A lot of our language has been twisted in order for us to fall into categorical thinking that leads to division among the populace. I like to use the term “The Hundredth Monkey Effect”).
There were nearly 140,000 people who contracted the common flu each day in the year 2019.
The total reported cases of corona virus worldwide right now at the time of this writing stands at 240,000, first discovered in China, December 2019.
Even if we take into account that this number is most likely underreported due to various factors such as lack of viable tests, it is still statistically insignificant compared to the seasonal flu.
This “global lockdown” that is taking place appears to be an over-exaggerated response when taking these numbers into account.
While people are busy preaching doom and gloom, disinformation campaigns and conspiracies, I would like to offer an alternative perspective that is rooted in reality.
Over-exaggerated reactions warrant over-exaggerated solutions.
What have these over-exaggerated solutions produced so far?
-An update to every company’s sick/leave policies. This has been a major problem for many years as employees always feared getting financially crippled if they have a prolonged illness. Expect these policies to become permanent.
-Many parents are switching to homeschooling to finish off the rest of the year for their children. This not only contributes to special bonding but a growth of true individuality. Prepare for this trend to stick around as we discuss ways to revamp our education system.
-Some of the first businesses to close were restaurants and bars. Many employees of the service industry are college graduates who for one reason or another, did not find an adequate job towards their career. Now with the furlough/unemployment stimulus package that will continue for months, this will provide the focus, resources, and time needed for these college graduates to reenter the work force with their field in mind.
-Many people are now cooking at home. This greatly reduces sodium/fat intake which will contribute to higher overall well being.
-Many people are taking on new hobbies such as art and crafts. I have always predicted that our economy is going to shift towards handcrafted goods/services as more and more things become automated. This is going to be a start of that renaissance as people now have months to pursue such hobbies.
-More family time. Many people are together with their families again spending quality time. -Second baby boom. Many people in western culture are in the preconception that it is better not to have a baby in today’s age for a list of reasons that points towards pessimism. But if one was to have an open mind and indulge in the idea that the world is going to be an amazing wonderful place, wouldn’t it then be sensible to have as many babies as possible?
-World peace. There are no wars at the time of this writing. In fact, the world is actually working together in harmony. This is arguably the biggest news story of the year, we have made a peace treaty with the Taliban and will be pulling all troops out of Afghanistan by 2021. I don’t recall the last time in written history the world was in a state of complete peace. This is absolutely monumental. These are indicators that we are not in a repeating timeline anymore but breaking the mold.
-More sleep = more healing. A lot of Americans are sleep deprived which makes it so your body never fully heals 100% from joint wearing, muscle tearing, and mental stress As more and more people get their much needed rest, they will have sharper focus, energy, and rational thinking which will lead to better decisions.
-Working at home is now being evaluated as a sensible efficient business concept
-Pollution rates have plummeted worldwide, mostly due to grounded flights as aircrafts create the most damage to our ozone layer
-Construction is still allowed during the lockdown which allows a lot of infrastructure to be rebuilt quickly without disturbing daily life of citizens
-Many pets such as dogs and cats will be adopted as people have more time on their hands
-Shelters are provided for all homeless people
-People are focusing on geriatrics and allocating sufficient funding for senior care and homes (something our senior population has been in desperate need of)
-Entertainment/pro sports industries are at a standstill, less distractions for people during this introspective time
In conclusion, we are preparing to reset the American economy and making sure everyone is on the same page to avoid any civil fallout.

And many more but these are the ones that have big implications to the current picture.
A spreading misconception:
-The markets are imploding! All the gains are gone! We are heading into a Great Depression!
Truth: One of the main reasons the markets are “imploding” is because of the shift in energy production and allocation that is coming very very fast in our future. The USA became energy independent as of last year. We are also now the biggest supplier of oil in the world. And this other part, I have no idea how this was accomplished but watching the sequence of it blew my mind, but we negotiated a deal to have Saudi Arabia leave the oil game. This has caused a huge scramble among international oil companies as they have to constantly lower prices in order to compete and cash out in order to jump to new industries. This huge gap left in the market is from this shift that is occurring. As Trump mentioned in his Davos World Summit speech, soon America is going to have “limitless energy” as we are already shifting our focus onto clean nuclear energy and “new technologies.” This is why gas prices are decreasing at such fast rates. In some states, gas prices are 99 cents!
Yes, the coronavirus is having an impact on the markets as well but there is always an expected stock market drop with every “major” virus spread. This is intentional as you can slowly start witnessing on the news that there were insider trading among corporations and politicians. It’s clockwork. They do this every time but our short attention span jumps to the next thing like Pavlov’s Law and we forget about it.
Everyone panics when the market drops 10% but gradually regains their senses when the market goes back up 1-2% annually since the crash. The stock market has always been a major pump and dump scheme with the insiders cashing out the most. It is no longer a dependable model to judge the strength of our economy since too many banks heavily influence the markets.
Why should we remain confident in the economy? Well, simply put, the USA is filthy rich right now.
As I am sure you heard, Trump has offered “$2000” as compensation. A lot of Bernie supporters jumped in mockery to claim, “Oh look who’s socialist now!,” but as usual, they could not be any more wrong (low blow, but I couldn’t help it XD).
A good question is, why is the news barely covering Trump’s proposal for “$2000” but giving headlines to politicians who are calling for “$1000?”
It is because the money that Trump is proposing is not from tax payer dollars. We are not going to have to “pay it back” in one way or another in the future as it would be if we used our own tax dollars.
The money is from the US Treasury and it is stockpiled right now because of all the new trade deals that favor the USA. That is our money. Plain and simple. Our collective hard work has been proven through ratified tariffs in other countries. Every country has agreed to our terms. Including China. We have already accumulated over hundreds of billions in cash from last year alone.
This is why Trump said $2000 and “much much more coming very soon.” The mainstream media does not want you to know about this. They do not want you to know that taxes are not needed to begin with when you have a GDP as strong as the US. There are many functioning states that do not operate with pay roll taxes and they are economically sound. We would be able to fund any democratically accepted policy in the US with ease from just the tariffs alone.
What we are witnessing in actuality, is the battle between the current White House administration, the Federal Reserve and the centralized banks. The coronavirus is more of a covedistraction as both sides make their chess moves.
This is why as soon as Trump approved of removing student Federal loan interests, the Federal Reserve responded by pumping the banks with $1.5 trillion. A few days later, Trump double downed on approving 0% pay roll tax, the Federal Reserve responded by slashing interest rates to 0% the next day which caused the latest market crash.
We are beginning to choke the Federal Reserve by removing taxes because we did not need them to begin with. We only needed them to manage our debt and inflation since we got off the gold standard. They are not even a government entity, but a private institution that works only to enrich the big banks.
These banks will not go down easily. The last president who openly criticized and offered solutions out of the Federal Reserve was John F. Kennedy and he was assassinated for it. They have a stranglehold on the market and that stranglehold has to be removed finger by finger as not to actually implode everything. Rest assured, economic failsafes have already been instituted and prepared. Funnily enough, it was funded on the Federal dime as we borrowed that spending in record amounts, which was intentional. The Trump administration has spent more on infrastructure on borrowed money than any other president. We are preparing to “default” on the debt we owe the Federal Reserve as we make a transition back to the gold standard. The US has already secured enough gold to make this transition possible as well as printed US Treasury currency ready to be distributed at a moment’s notice.
What does this mean for you?
We are about to witness an era of prosperity the United States has never seen before once we exit this momentary lapse of confusion and panic. And these are not delusions, or “hopefully it happens,” or “that’s not possible.” I have been carefully studying all policies, executive orders, and actions of the three branches of government and can conclude that great things are on their way as I speak.
Everything has been put in place. In a bigger abstract sense, it has been ordained on December 21st, 2012 by an energy force so great and pure. Some call it God, Gaia, Supreme Being, Mother Nature, the universe, positive energy, “solar flares,” magnetic pole shifts, Schumann Resonance, 5th dimension, whatever it is, has come to take over the timeline and funnel us into the point of inevitability. Right now is an amazing time to tune into your synchronicity. A lot of clues are being laid around you right now for you to reach your higher self, to truly push the boundaries of your potential as a unique individual spirit. You are at the right place at the right time.
-Removal of the Federal Reserve = Freedom from taxes, higher incomes, better benefits. As life becomes more relaxed and leisurely, companies will be competing for your contract. Many other streams of revenue will be accessible.
-Limitless energy: it means the cost of everything plummets. Everything will become very cheap and affordable. I would even recommend people to start designing their dream homes now. Japan is already working on a prototype solar panel that can be placed in space which will have super high levels of energy output.
-As energy becomes free, costs of travel will become significantly reduced and new technologies (Pentagon black projects, recently converted into “Space Force” to be placed under public scrutiny and to disseminate the new technology that has been kept hidden from the masses) will be introduced that will increase the speed of travel to one hour, anywhere in the world. This will jumpstart the true form of globalism as you can work in any place that you want and live separately in any place as well.
-Spiritual awareness - We will all be gaining the ability to astral project! Keep your mind in good shape! Brain damage can make astral projection difficult!
-Life span will greatly increase. As you might have read the recent headline, scientists have cured a HIV patient, the 2nd time we were ever able to do so. Expect a lot more successful headlines in regards to medicine/science. It is actually happening already and a lot of it has to do with removing toxic CEOs and board directors who undermine breakthrough research that improves the human race for their own self-gain.
Resignations of the following CEOs from just the past couple months alone: CEO of Disney CEO of Tinder (why do you think people feel more lonely than ever even with dating apps? Algorithms in dating apps set you up for failure and addiction to maximize profits, but fortunately the corrupt masterminds behind these algorithms are being removed as we speak)
CEO of Hinge
CEO of OkCupid
CEO of Match
CEO of Hulu
CEO of MedMen
CEO of Victoria’s Secret
CEO of Salesforce
CEO of Harley Davidson
CEO of IBM
CEO of T-Mobile
CEO of LinkedIn
CEO of MasterCard
Board member Microsoft Bill Gates
Board member Berkshire Hathaway Bill Gates
CEO of Lockheed Martin
(Many of these were on the day after Weinstein’s arrest. A “checkpoint” that indicates their next move)
+many more in the past two months. In the past three years, resignations of notable CEOs and board members totaled over 11,000.
Where are all these CEOs going? To be honest, I already subtracted a lot of information from this single writeup alone just to condense it as much as possible and will have to unfortunately do the same here since it is a long explanation in itself. Please ignore all other theories and hypotheticals from other people in regards to the CEOs as many of them are starting to spread online. Vast disinformation campaigns are put into place to combat the growing truth.
All you really need to know is that the “good guys” have obtained enough leverage to force them all out.
Those who refuse to comply with resignation orders have a hidden scandal of theirs blown up on the news. This is why so many scandals have been coming to light, not just in the US, but worldwide.
Points I do not have the time to dive into but good to be mindful of:
-High rate of celebrities/politicians contracting coronavirus (involves the bio lab near Wuhan which produced illegal human enhancing chemical compounds) Keep note of their rapidly deteriorating health as they experience withdrawals on a grand scale -Joe Biden’s voter counts (please keep in mind that in 2016, Bernie supporters filed a joint class action lawsuit against the DNC for rigging the primaries and lost on the grounds that the DNC is a private institution and can choose to reveal results and delegates however they choose to do so) -Google/Facebook/other social media companies are uncensored now. Search results are showing authentic results that were once censored or removed from the top results before. #Pizzagate was actually trending on Twitter a couple days ago. -Here is a video from “Event 201” from October 2019 hosted by John Hopkins Center that involves Bill Gates, WHO, CDC, and other nonprofit powerhouses who conveniently set up an exercise dealing with the coronavirus just months prior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoLw-Q8X174
Everything I have listed is verifiable and sourced. I am more than happy to provide any additional information that backs up any of my claims.
We are living in interesting times and things are just warming up! I could literally talk for days about the exciting things that have happened and are in development.
History is watching.
Where we go one, we go all.

2020.02.22 16:25 News2016 Current Presidential Candidate Plans to address the MMIWG crisis

Current Presidential Candidate Plans to address the MMIWG crisis (alphabetical order)
Joe Biden:
Plan on website:
“Reaffirming Tribal sovereignty to support victims and hold offenders accountable, and expanding federal resources for Alaska Native and American Indian women and girls impacted by violence and abuse. First and foremost, the Biden Administration will prioritize the extension of tribal authority against non-Native abusers for sexual assault, stalking, child violence, and trafficking, as called for in VAWA 2019. The Biden Administration will also make more federal resources available for Tribal domestic violence and sexual assault programs by increasing funding set aside for tribes under the Victims of Crime fund (VOCA). To complement these efforts, the Biden Administration will commit to expanding enrollment for all tribal law enforcement agencies to participate in the Tribal Access Program, a Department of Justice initiative to provide American Indian and Alaska Native police with access to national crime information databases. Currently, the vast majority of federally recognized Tribes participate in the program, which severely hinders a nationally accurate count of violent crimes against Native women and girls. To this end, Biden’s plan supports the proposals to tackle the data gaps fueling the epidemic of missing and murdered Native women and girls outlined under Savanna’s Act. “
https://joebiden.com/vawa/
Excerpt from letter to organizers and attendees of Native American Presidential Forum 2020:
“According to the United States Department of Justice, American Indian women are ten times more likely to be murdered than the national average. Four in five American Indian women will experience violence in their lifetimes. Homicide is the third leading cause of death for American Indian girls and women between the ages of 10 and 24. The MMIW crisis has long been a quiet crisis, as federal authorities and federal law enforcement fail to accurately report data or work to find the women who disappear or are murdered. As President of the United States, how would you use your authority to address the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis in Indian Country?
What’s happening to indigenous women on reservations and across the United States is unconscionable and outrageous. And, it’s devastating that families are conducting their own searches for missing loved ones. It must end.
I’ve spent my entire career working to end violence against women. In 1990, I wrote the Violence Against Women Act, and fought for it to be passed four years later. I’m proud to have fought for tribes’ rightful authority to protect Native women from abuse, a battle we won in 2013, when we got the Violence Against Women Act reauthorization to recognize tribes' inherent power to exercise special criminal jurisdiction over non-Indian offenders who commit domestic violence, dating violence, or violate a protection order.
Progress is possible. But for missing and murdered indigenous women and their families, justice remains out of reach.
In October 2019, I sent the vice chair of my campaign Cathy Russell, who was U.S. Ambassador-At-Large for Global Women's Issues in the Obama-Biden Administration, to represent me at the first-ever forum on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in the United States. She heard directly from families who lost daughters, sisters, and friends -- and then were left alone to search for their loved ones.
The epidemic of violence against indigenous women and girls is a stain on our past and present. But it does not have to be our future. That's why I support the 2019 reauthorization of VAWA that the House of Representatives has passed, which would expand tribal jurisdiction provisions to address crimes including sexual violence, sex trafficking, and stalking. If it has not become law by the time I enter the White House, it will be one of my top legislative priorities.
We also need better data, better coordination between state, federal, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies, and access for all to health and culturally sensitive social services. That’s why, as president, I will take a comprehensive approach, one that closes the data gap, increases funding and supports tribes in building their own programs, expands tribal authority, grows coordination among law enforcement agencies and provides additional resources to tribal enforcement, and expands access to culturally sensitive resources for victims and survivors. I will ensure that federal law enforcement prioritizes public safety in Indian Country and with engagement from tribal communities.
I believe that this epidemic, and how we decide to address it, cuts to the very core of how we measure ourselves as a society. In 2014, at the White House Tribal Nations Conference, I promised that I would stand by your side in this fight. In 2020 and beyond, I will keep that promise, and join you hand in hand to end this epidemic.”

Pete Buttigieg:
Plan on website:
“Tribal sovereignty means being able to access the resources and protections needed to protect and support tribal citizens. Tribal Nations are often blocked by courts when attempting to protect their land bases and community members. Pete will ensure Tribal Nations have the means to protect their people and land, including by affirming tribal jurisdiction over all reservation activity.
Push Congress for a statutory Oliphant fix to affirm tribal jurisdiction over all reservation activity and fully fund tribal judges. Tribal Nations need freedom to manage civil, criminal, and regulatory matters. The 1978 Supreme Court decision in Oliphant v. Suquamish set the stage for the current jurisdictional maze on reservations. As a result, Tribal Nations’ ability to prosecute a crime depends on the type of crime alleged and whether the victim or the accused is an enrolled tribal member. This impunity undermines safety. Many of the crimes committed on reservations are perpetrated by non-Indian residents. To maintain security for their members,Tribal Nations must have the ability to prosecute anyone, regardless of their citizenship.
Within Pete’s first 100 days in office, appoint a commission dedicated to the study of the crisis on missing and murdered indigenous women. Native women are killed at 10 times the rate of non-Native women, and there is reason to believe the number of missing and murdered Native women is significantly undercounted. This commission will be tasked with collecting data and analyzing trends in violence against Native women and developing recommendations for his administration to comprehensively address the issue. Expanding funding to collect data and analyze trends on violence against women in tribal communities will make sure we fully understand the extent of the injustices Native women face. Pete also supports Savanna’s Act and strengthening the protocols and reporting standards surrounding the documentation and investigation of the crisis.
Pete will work with Congress to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Combined with an Oliphant fix clarifying tribal jurisdiction over matters on their lands, Tribal Nations will be empowered to prosecute the full range of violence-related crimes against Native women and girls. Safety is a core human need, yet too often Native women and girls are threatened with epidemic levels of violence. Perpetrators, in contrast, enjoy impunity. These conditions not only have a severe negative impact on the individuals themselves but dramatically undermine sustainable and effective economic development efforts. Pete will ensure that tribal courts will have enhanced powers to prosecute perpetrators of violence, whether Native or non- Native. He will also promote measures to assist domestic violence survivors beyond the criminal justice system, including lessening the harmful economic implications of domestic violence and decreasing barriers to housing and employment.”

Bernie Sanders:
Plan on website:
“Reauthorize and expand the Violence Against Women Act to provide critical resources to women in Indian country and allow all tribes to prosecute non-Native criminals. More than 4 in 5 American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence, and more than 1 in 2 have experienced sexual violence. They deserve justice now.”

“In this meeting, Bernie was receptive, he listened, he was sincerely moved by the accounts of the families, and he made a sincere promise to appoint an Attorney General and Department of Justice who will work in tandem with families, tribes, and law enforcement at every level of jurisdiction, in addition to ensuring that native victims and survivors will be able to hold nonnative perpetrators accountable everywhere in this country. Jurisdiction is often a huge barrier to justice for tribal communities, and in addition to data collection and changing the culture of law enforcement, stands as one of the major pillars to ending the nationwide epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous relatives.”

Elizabeth Warren:
Plan on website:
“PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE
“For generations, the federal government has refused to respect Tribal sovereignty in criminal justice matters and failed to support tribes with the resources they need to exercise their own authority. This must change. My plan will recognize the inherent jurisdiction of tribes over their sovereign territory, while providing tribal authorities sufficient funding to provide robust legal systems that deliver justice for victims and due process to criminal defendants. My administration will also launch an unprecedented initiative to address the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women.
Restoring Tribal Sovereignty Over Crimes on Native Land
The federal government has failed to recognize that Tribal governments, as sovereigns, have the inherent right to prosecute non-Natives on Tribal land. It’s time to fix that — and to ensure tribes have the resources and the flexibility necessary to administer justice fully and fairly.
In 1978, the Supreme Court held in Oliphant v. Suquamish that tribal governments have no inherent criminal jurisdiction over non-Natives on tribal lands, denying Tribal governments the authority to prosecute non-Natives — even where they committed crimes on tribal land. This decision has deprived countless Native victims of their day in court, and with it, the possibility of justice. It has also created an atmosphere of impunity that feeds our missing and murdered indigenous women crisis. State and federal authorities often decline to prosecute crimes committed by non-Native people on Tribal lands, allowing potential perpetrators to escape accountability.
Consider just one example. In 2003, a 19-year-old Native woman reported a rape by an Army recruiter. Because the recruiter was not a citizen of a tribe, tribal authorities could not prosecute him. Federal prosecutors also refused to prosecute the man, despite the government settling a lawsuit with the victim for $650,000.
There are countless heartbreaking stories like these. 96% of Native female sexual assault victims have experienced violence at the hands of a non-Native person. Even where they are willing to do so, state and federal law enforcement authorities face several obstacles to investigating and prosecuting these offenses, such as the remote geography of many tribal areas, difficulties in producing witnesses, and limited resources. These circumstances effectively immunize crimes on Tribal lands, turning those lands into magnets for violent criminals, sex traffickers, and drug cartels who choose to prey on vulnerable populations.
In the 2013 Violence Against Women Act reauthorization, Congress cut back somewhat on the Oliphant ruling by explicitly recognizing Tribal Nations’ inherent criminal jurisdiction over non-Natives who commit certain forms of domestic violence on tribal lands. Defendants in such cases maintain the right to challenge Tribal rulings in federal court using habeas corpus petitions. Since that time, eighteen Tribal Nations have used the new authority to secure dozens of convictions — without a single habeas petition challenging those rulings.
Congress is currently attempting to expand the domestic violence exception to Oliphant as part of the latest reauthorization of VAWA. I wholeheartedly support that effort. But I believe that respecting Tribal sovereignty and improving public safety in Indian Country demands that we must go much further.
We need a full Oliphant fix. I agree with the National Congress of American Indians that Congress should “expand inherent tribal criminal jurisdiction over all persons committing any crime in their Indian country in a manner that ensures that defendants have the same due process protections as required under the Tribal Law and Order Act of 2010 and the 2013 Re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act.” That expansion would give Tribal Nations the sole discretion to determine whether or not to exercise that new authority.
My administration will provide Tribal Nations that choose to exercise this authority with the necessary resources to administer justice fairly — like providing funding for legal representation for indigent defendants — and to expand the scope of their enforcement without imposing any additional financial burdens on tribes that have been systematically underfunded. My plan will also empower Tribal courts with the sentencing authority required to address more serious offenses by amending the Indian Civil Rights Act, which bars tribal courts from imposing punishments greater than three years in prison per offense and nine years as a total sentence.
Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women
America faces an epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women. This crisis affects Native women and girls everywhere — on reservations, in cities, and in rural communities. In 2016, according to the National Crime Information Center, 5,712 indigenous women and girls were reported missing. Native women and girls face disproportionate rates of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and 84% of indigenous women have experienced violence in their lifetime.
This is a moral failing and a stain on our country. I have worked to address the crisis of violence against Native people, and especially women and girls. I supported including protections for Native victims of abuse in the 2013 reauthorization for the Violence Against Women Act. But I believe there are many additional steps we must take.
Rolling back the Oliphant decision and recognizing full tribal authority to prosecute non-Native defendants, along with providing necessary funding for investigation, coordination, and prosecution, are crucial steps to help address this crisis. But there is so much more we must do. We must pass the Studying the Missing and Murdered Indian Crisis Act, which requires the federal government to formally report on the law enforcement response to missing and murdered Native people, and expand the POWER Act to fund pro bono legal services for Native victims of domestic and dating violence.
In addition, I am proposing a nationwide Missing Indigenous Woman Alert System modeled after the Amber Alert System and fully funded by the Department of Justice. This system will include a single database of missing indigenous women or women categorized as “runaways.”
Law enforcement authorities at the federal, state, and local level would be required to log missing indigenous women, prompting public alerts through several channels, including SMS, email, push, radio, TV, search, and other applications. The Department of Justice would house a national coordinator for the program, who would work with tribal authorities to establish minimum standards for alert, send annual reports to Congress documenting missing and murdered indigenous women, and a comprehensive report on the program metrics. Like the Amber Alert System, the federal government would administer a grant program to allow states and tribal authorities to establish alert programs, as well as to fund agencies and nonprofits assisting in addressing this crisis.
These missing persons reports would also contribute to a comprehensive law enforcement database of missing and murdered women, which would be accessible to law enforcement officials — with appropriate privacy protections in place to respect the privacy of victims and families. States and local authorities would also have the obligation to enter any other victims into the FBI database. In deference to tribal data sovereignty, this law enforcement data must be made fully accessible to tribal authorities.
An aggressive law enforcement approach also requires investigation and prosecution of cases involving violence against indigenous women, and not just by tribal authorities. I will establish a Department of Justice Task Force to investigate the epidemic of sexual assaults and murders committed against Native women and prosecute offenders. This task force will have the mandate to prosecute cases that have gone without investigation for years, or work with tribal authorities who choose to exercise their inherent jurisdiction. And I will appoint United States Attorneys who will aggressively investigate serious crimes — including cold cases — committed on tribal lands.
Finally, as Canada has done, we must conduct a fully-funded independent national inquiry into the causes of the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women. We must fully grapple with how our nation allowed this epidemic to grow — and ensure that we take every step we can to end it.”

“Honoring Indigenous Tribal Nations
We will strengthen tribal sovereignty and tribal jurisdiction by enacting laws and policies that enhance the ability of Indian nations to govern their territories, keep their communities safe, and prosecute crimes committed on tribal lands. We will build on the important provisions in the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013, which reaffirmed the right of Indian tribes to prosecute perpetrators regardless of race who commit domestic violence on tribal lands. Democrats will continue to work to address criminal justice gaps that undermine the safety of tribal communities. And we will back these efforts through robust investments in effective tribal law enforcement and tribal courts.”

2019.11.19 14:53 Jakesmith2909 I've just watched the first 4 episodes, after some recommendations from r/television. Here are some of my thoughts..

The original thread of comments- https://www.reddit.com/television/comments/dy523u/the_expanse_season_4_official_trailer_prime_video/f7yn1if/?context=3
I'll start off by saying I'm really enjoying the show so far, and I'd like to thank all of the redditors who took the time to reply, you can see the vote for the show was 99% unanimous! Phrases like "Best science fiction show ever." and "Game Of Thrones in spaaaace." were flashing up on my notifications all night, even while watching. There was ONE bad review, which I'll address at some point.
The first few episodes were slow character building, yes, and I relate to those who were turned off by the build up. I'm of the belief that stories of this magnitude need these character and world building episodes. That way, we can invest properly in this lovingly crafted universe.
And isn't the universe so meticulously planned? I'm sure no one ever puts this much thought into a narrative. I love the Cold-War esque standoff between Earth and Mars, exacerbated by the goings on of the OPA and The Belters. I found myself pausing several times just to read things like Martian recruitment posters, and those dating profiles the Detective fella was trawling through.
Leading into the actors, some of the acting is a little wooden from the supporting cast, but this is to be expected and it never ever ripped me out of the experience. Detective Joe is brilliant, albeit a bit of a cliche, so I'm looking forward to seeing where he goes in the future. I can tell he is already going to be important, and his exposition through dialogue has been just right. Holden, or Jon Snow in spaaaace as I like to call him is fantastic, I love his moral conundrum in the beginning and how that bites him FIRMLY on the arse. The supporting cast are okay, a few typecasts in there- the tough soldier type (Amos?), the meek medic. The ass kicking lady with a murky past (Naomi, who is great and represents my beloved UK) shines above the rest of those guys, BUT.. There is a character I am fascinated by, and that is Avasarala.
I mean, wow. I haven't seen much of her yet, but I pray she gets fleshed out fully. For me, she is the most intriguing aspect.
I also really dig The Martian way of life, the interrogation scenes with Lt Lopez(?) were great and I can't wait to see more of that society.
I won't even bother going into the FX, its perfect for a show of this scale. They could of been a few notches down in quality and I still wouldn't have gave a toss. This is a show about its characters and that is what will keep me coming back. (That being said, the battle against The Donnager was well but together)
As a segway, I am a student of Story Writing in my final year. My plan for my final assignment is a "Space Odyssey" I have been working on for 8 years or so. Unfortunately I have been in a writer's block for a while now, but now I am ready to get back into it after watching this. Compelling character tales against a grand backdrop can be done, and done well. We live in a golden age of storytelling, my friends.
Thank you guys, I'm hooked, line and sinker. 8/10 - pretty damn good. Onto episode five!

REMEMBER THE CANT!

2019.09.26 08:31 OkieBombshell A package from beyond

This has been on my mind all day and just wanted to share.
I went through a rough time in life in my mid-20’s, after a nasty divorce. I made some bad choices, started drinking heavily, just being reckless and dumb. My Dad didn’t let Grandma know all that was going on, but she knew enough to be worried. I started dating, and got pregnant by, a guy in his early 20’s. He was cute, but that’s all he had going for him. He partied constantly, using drugs that I didn’t, like meth.
Anyway, the pregnancy was enough for me to pull myself together. I’ve never had a problem doing things that could hurt me, but couldn’t take a chance of hurting another human being. I immediately quit drinking, got away from the guy I was dating and the entire crowd I had been in. I still had work to do on me, which wasn’t easy, but I knew I needed to do what I needed to do. Checked into a program for alcohol and depression, and from there things got sooo much better. Things just kept working the way they needed to. My OB was the greatest!!! He knew I was scared and hurting. He would pray with me at each visit and even call me at home to check on me with my depression. By the time my baby was due, I had true friends and a new start on life. My Grandma, of course, was very excited about her great grandson, who was born on Thanksgiving Day. Unfortunately, she didn’t have the opportunity to meet him in person, as we lived several states away, and she passed unexpectedly on New Years Eve. I was devestated to lose my Grandma, but so grateful to know she was happy and proud of me in the end.
A few months later, April, I came home from an appointment to find a package had been delivered. It had my Grandma’s address label. I was shaken, and tears welled up. I figured it was something from my Opa, and he had used one of her old labels.
I opened the package, hands still trembling. Inside, beautiful items for my baby, all picked out by his Great Grandma, along with a beautiful card and letter, lovingly written by my Grandma! The package was sent before she passed, had gotten lost in the mail, and then found and delivered safely to us on that beautiful April day.
I know a lot of people would say something about coincidence or whatever, but I honestly don’t care to debate it. I know what it meant and means in my heart. My Grandma made sure I got that package and the forever reminders of her love. That ‘baby’ will be 20 in November, and I still have the contents of our special package, the most special part is seeing and feeling her handwritten messages of love.

2019.05.28 04:12 byeopathrowaway AITA For Not Wanting My Dads GF And Kids At A Funeral?

Basically, my parents are separated, not divorced. They are still married and my dad has been dating this woman, 'L'. She has two daughters as well, and my dad has pretty much consistedly chosen 'L' over me. This has created tension and a strain on everybody, especially my relationship with my father and I. He has basically refused to compromise over seeing her and seeing me, and she is over basically 24/7. Recently, my fathers dad passed away and the funeral is soon. I'm relatively heartbroken over it. My mom is going to go (as that was her father in law for many years.) and now my dad is bringing his girlfriend. In the obituary, after my dads name, it said 'L's name as well and my mother is livid about it, as she was his daughter in law and mom of his grand children, it should be her name. My father is inviting his girlfriend and her children despite the fact that the funeral is very intimate (closest family only, with the exception of some of Opas friends) and they didn't know him AT ALL and despite the fact that I've protested against it and that it's going to make my mother uncomfortable. AITA for not wanting them to come because of the strain it would put on my family? I feel as if they do not belong at the funeral at all, I don't want them there and neither does my mum, and if they wish to pay their respects they may do it in another way.

2019.03.31 07:29 thoth-23 TIFU by not asking a cute girl I met for her phone number

To set the stage correctly, it was nearly 22 years ago. 1997. About to start my junior year in college. The "worldwide web" was still in its infancy and landline phones with long distance plans still existed. My best friend didn't have a car (or driver's license) and begged me to take him to some record stores he couldn't otherwise get to. He promised lunch and gas money, which I happily accepted.
After two record stores of him wandering aimlessly and complaining loudly he couldn't find what he was looking for, I got fed up and told him we were going to my choice of record stores next. At the third store, I bumped into a really cute girl who actually talked to me. It doesn't take much for me to get tongue tied, stutter or just generally look like a complete buffoon. Yet still she kept talking to me and we talked about our shared musical tastes. I was in shock. She was drop dead gorgeous and didn't get put off by my general awkwardness. She, too, was dragged to multiple record stores by her best friend who also didn't have a car or driver's license and promised to buy lunch and pay for gas.
The coincidences kept piling up. She was about to start at the university I was attending as a freshman. She worked at a store close to campus. Given my rotten history of dating, I really didn't want to start this off stupidly or in a rush. We kept talking. I thought she would be a really cool friend to have and hang out with. Then our best friends started harassing us to leave. We said our goodbyes but never exchanged phone numbers. SMH!!! But I didn't think much more of it that day.
For the following weeks, I couldn't get her out of my mind. I kept thinking about how stupid I was for not even asking her for her phone number. It was still summer, so I was living at my parents' place until school started again and going down once a week to do some work on campus. Worse yet, there was no way to track her down. I knew that she lived near the school. I knew where she worked, but that's it. How would I ever bump into her or see her again when there were more than 20,000 people at my university? How would I just "randomly" stop by her work without coming across like some total creepo stalker? And then I sank into despair.
The next month was hell. Once a week, I would pop into the store where she worked to see if I could spot her again. I only knew her first name. Each time I went, someone was there, but it was never her. Hopeless.
Another month, no luck. School was just about to start and surely someone else would ask her out and I would miss my chance of connecting with her. Not that I felt I had much chance, but at least maybe I could start a friendship with someone who clearly shared some of my interests. But if ever I had a chance, it would be before all the other guys saw this amazing girl and asked her out. Time was running out for me. I had gone on two more disastrous dates. The first said she just wanted a free meal. The second was writing love notes to someone else. Yeah, I know. Pathetic.
Two weeks away and school was about to start. I hadn't stopped by the store in a couple weeks. I don't know what drew me in, but I went anyway. No expectation. Only that little shred of hope. I walked into the store and there she was! My heart was racing. My tongue was tied. And I was a stuttering idiot again. I tried engaging her in conversation again. Nothing but icy looks and a cold shoulder. Hope was fading fast. I asked if she remembered me. And she responded that with a gesture intended for me to see her hand as she swept her long hair back from her shoulder. Then I saw it. A wedding ring. WTF? I was crestfallen. Why would this girl talk to me warmly at the record store only to get married within a few weeks and now act like I was just a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of her shoe? And who the heck gets married right out of high school?? Damn. I drove home to the house I was renting with some friends and slept for the rest of the day. I just couldn't... WHY DIDN'T I ASK FOR HER NUMBER? WHY DIDN'T I ASK HER OUT RIGHT THERE ON THE SPOT WHEN I FIRST MET HER? YOU IDIOT!!! Those were the kinder thoughts going through my head. Now, it looked like I didn't even have a chance at being her friend. Guess it was time to go back to the library and drown my sorrows in the stacks and distract myself with learning and research and crap. I would probably die a virgin.

But wait............

It doesn't end there....

The funny thing about denial is that it sometimes works in non-destructive ways too. School just started. I couldn't stop thinking about this beautiful girl that led me on and dashed my hopes like a plate at a Greek wedding (OPA!). I would do anything to spend just five minutes in her presence. Even sell my soul. It didn't matter. And if she told me to fuck off, then I would leave her alone. But damn it all, I had to try. After class on Friday of my first week back, I walked over to the store. Sadly, she wasn't there. I thought maybe she quit because I bugged her that one time. Or maybe she was working during typical class times to avoid me and others like me, who were smitten with her.
After a few more visits, I was ready to give up. But something told me I had to try a different approach. No one likes a stalker. It was time to take action and find out if she had just strung me along. Or gave me a red herring so I couldn't find her again. So, I decided to ask the Asian fellow working the store if he knew her. He told me he did and she was the assistant manager. I scribbled a quick note for her with my full name and phone number. This way she could look me up and decide if she wanted to bother. It was a Friday. I had no expectation of hearing from her and if I did, perhaps it would be a week or so later. But at least I tried.
I got home an hour later after some grocery shopping. The phone was ringing as I walked through the door. I didn't think anything of it, just put my food away. As I headed down the hallway to my room, the phone started ringing again. Moments later, my housemate poked his head out of his room and said, "Dude, there's a call for you. It's a woman and it's not your mom." Could it be? Did she call me right away? Was she hiding in the store and waited for me to leave? Was this going to be the "fuck off and leave me alone you creepy ass weirdo" call?
I answered the phone and the voice of an angel was on the other end. She said, "Hey dude, it's me. You know. From the record store? I see you finally decided to stop by and leave me a note."
I quickly confronted her about the wedding ring, leading me on and giving me the cold shoulder. She said, "Yeah, not me. Dumbass. That's my older sister. She's married and she's the store manager. Also, you might want to think about how you start a conversation, because that's definitely not a good ice breaker. It could also explain why you're still single."
The voice in my head screamed: "YOU BLEW IT!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??? YOU MORON!! YOU WILL SURELY DIE A LONE, SAD VIRGIN AND SURROUNDED BY CATS WHO WILL FEAST ON YOUR CORPSE!!!" Yes, my inner monologue is very forgiving of my mistakes.
Then, I asked her out. That is, if she didn't have any plans or a boyfriend or fiancee or husband or anything like that. She said yes and four days later, we went out for our first date. To this day, we haven't spent more than a couple days apart. You never know when, where or how you're going to meet your soulmate. Every day of the past (nearly) 22 years has been with a woman I love more than anything else on earth. Even with the horrible shit that has happened to us over the years, I know one thing will always be true -- I would do anything for her and she would do anything for me.

TL,DR: TIFU by not asking a beautiful woman for her phone number and had to basically stalk her at her place of employment to ask her out. But thankfully, there are forces more powerful than stupidity in the universe that brought us together.

2019.03.11 04:14 Rinehart17 Just NOma’s Wedding Antics (or lack there of) and You Don’t Deserve A Graduation Ticket

This story needs some pretty lengthy context, so strap yourselves in. I don’t need advice, since none of this is really anything I can change, but I really need a place to vent. If you have any pertinent advice or your own tales of woe for me, please feel free to let me know about them.
My maternal grandmother (henceforth, Oma) is quite the character. Narcissistic, selfish, rude— the list goes on. She divorced her husband (my Opa) when my mother was 10 years old and moved her family (children ages 10, 2, and a newborn) to the United States from Europe.
Fast forward many years, and my mother is grown with 3 children of her own. Her eldest (me) is graduating high school in 3 short months. Her brother is getting married over Memorial Day weekend. And her mother has breast cancer.
Oma’s chances of survival are very high. She will not die from cancer anytime soon. Which makes me believe she is the asshole in this situation, not me.
You see, we (my family of 5, Uncles #1 and #2, and Uncle #1’s fiancée) live in a small northern state just next to The Greatest City in the World. 10 years ago, Oma packed up her shit and moved herself down to the Sunshine State, where old folks from around here congregate like ants on a dropped piece of sandwich. When she moved, she left behind three grandchildren (ages 8, 3, and 1) and two high-school aged sons. She left her sons in a falling-apart house that was being foreclosed on, with no way of supporting themselves or next steps to take.
Since Oma’s move to Florida, I have seen her maybe 8 times. She doesn’t like flying and she refuses to drive herself up here. 2 of the times I have seen her were when my family made the trek to Magic Mouse Park and she joined us for a day.
Her latest bullshit is refusing to come to her own son’s wedding. Uncle #1 and his fiancée have been dating since my freshman year, and got engaged this past Thanksgiving. By Christmas, they sent out save-the-dates, and the formal invitation was sent out about two weeks ago. Because Oma is Oma, she has yet to make arrangements to stay near where the wedding is happening, look into flights, or generally do anything productive in figuring out how she will come to her son’s wedding. Oma is NOT by any means bedridden in the hospital. She goes to chemo once a week for a few hours, and has a doctor’s appointment on another day. When she isn’t doing that, she goes to see her friends, goes out to lunch or shopping, or sits at home on her iPad or watching TV. She has had ample time and opportunity to research flights and hotel rooms. But she hasn’t. She’s waiting for someone else to do it for her.
My mom (bless her heart) took my sister to visit Oma for a few days, followed by a one-day trip to Magic Mouse Park. My baby sis is totally oblivious to all the drama happening, and was thrilled to see Oma and the Magic Mouse. However, while they were there, some disturbing news arose from Oma. She told my mom that she doesn’t even FEEL like going to Uncle #1’s wedding because nobody is helping her get there. She, once again, is making everything about her. She did this with my cousin’s wedding last summer, too. We’re tired of it. It’s not about her. It’s about my uncle and his fiancée. Not about Oma. This lengthy context is needed for a later point.
As previously stated, I’m graduating high school in a few short months and then moving on the the wonderful world of higher education (Go, Panthers! 🐾). My high school is pretty tiny, and my graduating class has about 100 people. Each student gets somewhere between 8 and 10 tickets to the graduation ceremony to dole out as the see fit to their family and friends. Of course, Oma gets wind of the limited number of tickets available, and demands that she is given top priority. Um, no?
She’s the one who jetted off to Florida leaving her sons with a mess on their hands. She’s the one who has never tried to have a relationship with my or my siblings. She’s the one who has decided she doesn’t want to come to her own son’s wedding. I said hell no. She said, “But I’m her grandmother!”
I planned out who would get those tickets months ago, and she was never in the plan. But after that entitlement? No fucking way is she getting one. And if she doesn’t show for the wedding, I don’t know if I’ll ever speak to her again.
There’s also the matter of the graduation party, which I desperately do not want her at nor do I even want to invite her. Despite their support and own (probably deeper) exasperation with Oma, my parents told me I have to invite her to the party. I not-so-secretly hope she decided she’s not well enough to come. My parents have basically promised me that she won’t come, but I still have to invite her (which to me makes no sense). There’s many other people who actually support me and are in my life that I want to celebrate my accomplishments with me more than I want some crazy probably-alcoholic who I see maybe once a year.
I haven’t spoken to her since Christmas and I haven’t seen her in person since June. I feel a little guilty but my anger outweighs that tenfold.

2018.11.02 02:01 0N6RIVXBAY3P5CCCBPOU Racial preferences are racist

Can racial preferences ever be racist? (Answer: Yes.)

It is frequently argued that there is a distinction between a legitimate racial preference in dating and relationship formation and outright racism or prejudice.1 I think this is a distinction without a difference, and should be abandoned for a very simple reason (which I elaborate on in this post): what is racism but a preference for a particular race?
As neo-Nazis sometimes argue,2 Hitler had Jewish supporters,3 Hitler had a Jewish chauffeur,4 and thus Hitler could not have actually hated Jewish people and was not racist at all. In other words, for neo-Nazis, Hitler wasn't a racist, he merely had a preference against Jews, or perhaps not even Jews, but merely their role in "international finance" (i.e., what they stood for in the culture). But, of course, this is Hitler we're talking about5 — the most notorious racist of all time.
If an American hotel owner refuses to take in black guests, the hotel owner is not only a racist, but has violated the law and can be sued by the federal government.6 "Racial steering," encouraging racial minorities to purchase homes in certain areas and not others, can and still does give rise to investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division.7
Now, to be clear, my aim is not to morally equivocate between the Holocaust, public accommodations discrimination, housing discrimination, and racial dating preferences. The point here is about language and framing:
In the case of the hotel and the racially-steering real estate firms, few would claim that they are not racist. But are they not just expressing racial preferences? The dictionary advises that a preference is "the act, fact, or principle of giving advantages to some over others,"8 something is "preferred" when that thing is "liked better or best" or has "special status" and receives "special treatment."9 When the hotel owner offers accommodation to white people, but not to black people, he is subjecting each racial category to its own "special treatment." And there is little doubt that the owner prefers white people, and that he likes them "better or best" relative to black people. It is, in essence, a matter of preference. Yet, it's nevertheless racist.
Why do neo-Nazis go through great lengths to frame Hitler as a non-racist? Because basically everyone agrees that racism is wrong, and the neo-Nazi movement will inevitably struggle to gain significant ground as long as it is widely regarded as racist.10 If even neo-Nazis recoil at the "racist" label, it is unsurprising that those with "racial preferences" in dating should do the same. But their reactions, their claims of non-racism, even anti-racism, are hardly credible.
The Hitler example exemplifies another key point: racist preferences need not be absolute. Even Hitler, the most notorious racist of all time, may have made some exceptions for particular Jews in his hatred of Jewish people. Even (some) neo-Nazis take care in distinguishing individual Jewish people from "international Jewry" — the latter of which they hate, the former of which they take far less issue with. Some may claim that they merely "prefer," for example, whites to Asians in dating, but they wouldn't totally foreclose the possibility of dating an Asian person. Don't be taken in by this line of "reasoning." First, one might question their sincerity (just as one might question the sincerity of claims by Hitler or neo-Nazis to not hate all Jews). Second, even if you grant the truth of such claims, it's not clear that merely dealing in vagaries (i.e., "better" rather than "best") really makes them all that much less racist. As it turns out, racists are not terribly rational, and will inevitably make exceptions to their own logic.

But isn't dating different? (Answer: In terms of racism, no.)

It may be true that dating, romance, and sex are personal, intimate aspects of one's life; whereas the other examples cited above are apparently more public, commercial, or societal in nature. But it's unclear how these qualitative differences make a racial preference less racist: If a real estate agent holds a racial preference as to the acceptable living quarters for black people,11 the agent may effectively be publicly or commercially racist. If one harbors a racist dating, romantic, or sexual preference, is one simply not a personal, intimate racist?
Of course, this distinction might matter a great deal to a lawmaker. It's fair and reasonable to legally compel a real estate agent to avoid racism in carrying out his professional duties. But someone cannot be legally compelled to make particular sexual choices without raising hard problems of bodily integrity. But this does not alter the moral content of the racist decision; merely the extent to which the state can justifiably intervene to prevent or punish it. Thus, as we are not attempting to make law here, raising this issue is more of a strawman than a legitimate counterargument.

What about affirmative action? (Answer: Yes, it's discriminatory; no, it doesn't matter.)

Now, some will doubtless contend that if racism is a preference for a particular race, then affirmative action is racist. I'm not here to litigate the constitutionality or desirability of affirmative action. Rather, I believe that regardless of your views on affirmative action, my central claim still stands.
At the outset, I am aware that many Asian Americans oppose affirmative action.12 If you fall into that camp, which is not totally unfair in my view, then you should really have no issue here; in your view, affirmative action is racist (or, at least, it's perfectly acceptable for it to be so branded).
Personally, however, I support affirmative action (although not in all circumstances). To be sure, it is racial discrimination — in some places, it's even referred to as "positive discrimination."13 But I generally subscribe to the U.S. Supreme Court's reasoning in upholding the practice.14 Although the Supreme Court did not explicitly refer to the practice as racist, the Court did assess that the practice should come to an end "25 years from" the time the case was decided (which will be in 2028) — by then, the interests of the practice will have been sufficiently furthered, and it should be terminated. In my view, the interest in a diverse student body, where diversity is defined not solely in racial terms but with race as admittedly one component, is not merely in correcting some broad sense of systemic social injustice, but lies primarily in preparing students for careers and lives in a diverse world. This diversity of viewpoint, life experience, culture, race, gender, and so forth is an educational asset in its own right. Because the lack of diversity was caused by systematic discrimination, by undoing that cycle of discrimination (or rather, reversing it), in time diversity will be naturally sustainable, without the need for affirmative action. In essence, for the time being, the interest in diversity trumps the essentially "necessary" evil of racial discrimination in university admissions. Note, however, that there is no such compelling, countervailing interest that would make racial discrimination in dating into a "necessary evil."

Is it sexist to prefer a particular sex? (Answer: It also doesn't matter.)

My response to this question takes substantially the same structure as my response to the question immediately above. In the first view, with which I personally disagree but I know many will agree, sex and race are sufficiently distinguishable that there can be no analogy. In the second view, it is in fact sexist to prefer a particular sex — but it doesn't matter because, in essence, two wrongs don't make right.15
It is certainly possible to differentiate between sex and race, and between sexual/romantic/dating preferences in the two. Heterosexuality is the biological vehicle that enables the propagation of the human species. The practice of heterosexuality is widespread cross-culturally and historically. Systemic racial discrimination in dating preferences, a policy against dating people of a particular race, and particularly a policy against dating people of one's own race, however, is neither essential to the survival of the species, nor historical standard practice. To get right down to it, it simply cannot be the case that, for example, Asian women historically refused to engage in sexual relationships with Asian men, preferring white men. This is a decidedly new phenomenon. Refusing to date outside one's race might be more historically well-founded, although I'm not a historian. But, the bottom line conclusion is that: if race and sex (and racial and sexual preferences in dating) can be adequately distinguished, then the analogy is broken. In short, in this view, it does not follow from it being racist to prefer a particular race that it is sexist to prefer a particular sex.
However, in my view, which I know will be controversial, the answer to the question above is yes. Homosexuality and bisexuality (not to suggest that straight, gay, or bi are the only possible sexual orientations) also have long-standing, cross-cultural histories.16 In my view, sexuality is a spectrum and relatively few are totally heterosexual (or totally homosexual, for that matter), thus if one refuses to date an entire class of people purely on the grounds of their sex, that is sexist, and it results primarily from a culture of homophobia. But, whatever your feelings about this point of view, consider it briefly from a strictly logical standpoint. Assume that it is true — so what? What effect would it have on my central thesis? Yes, it is sexist to prefer a particular sex. Yes, it is racist to prefer a particular race.

Isn't it better to get racists out in the open? (Answer: Not particularly.)

Some might claim that they prefer that racists make their views known, so that racists can be avoided. I think this is a completely absurd argument. Newsflash: If a racist doesn't want to date Asian men (or people of any particular race), then they won't date Asian men. You don't have to avoid them. They'll avoid you.
A more plausible claim is that it gives you an opportunity to engage with the racist and, perhaps, through some way or another, talk them out of their racism. However, I think that one who has taken a hardline position of "I don't date Asian men," is unlikely to persuaded otherwise, least of all by an Asian man. And there is a very real danger in effectively normalizing racist statements. People say that they don't like Asian men because it's socially acceptable to do so (or at least, historically, that has been the case). The more people say it, the more normal it seems, and the more socially acceptable it becomes. The best recourse when people come forward publicly with their racist preferences is not to laud them for their bravery, but to shame them for their racism — establish over time that these views are not normal and not acceptable.

Footnotes:
1 This occurs even when antiracists are actively fighting against racism. For example, lordpanda1 distinguishing between preference and prejudice here:
They didn't say preference. They said it's a no asians policy. That's not preference. That's prejudice.
Interestingly, the subject of the "no dating Asians policy" video featured in the link above later made a response video where he also denounced the "no dating Asians policy" as racist, but later remarked,
Preference and racism is [sic] totally different things.
2 See YouTuber "The Golden One" on The Jewish Question: International Jewry vs Individual Jews: The Difference.:
There were a lot of Jews who supported Hitler. Now, a lot of mere mortals with a plebe tier understanding of the world say, like, "oh, Hitler hated Jews." No, he actually didn't. If you think he did, ask yourself why did he have a Jewish chauffeur and bodyguard? Why were there so many Jews fighting in the Wehrmacht? Hitler's battle was against international Jewry, international finance. ... That was what that was about, it was not some sort of ethnic hatred.

5 The notion that Hitler was not a racist or an anti-Semite is obviously wrong, but to preempt any neo-Nazis here, see https://www.britannica.com/topic/Mein-Kampf:
The first volume [of Mein Kampf] ... expresses Hitler’s racist ideology, identifying the Aryan as the “genius” race and the Jew as the “parasite,” and declares the need for Germans to seek living space (Lebensraum) in the East at the expense of the Slavs and the hated Marxists of Russia. ... According to Hitler, it was “the sacred mission of the German people…to assemble and preserve the most valuable racial elements…and raise them to the dominant position.” “All who are not of a good race are chaff,” wrote Hitler. It was necessary for Germans to “occupy themselves not merely with the breeding of dogs, horses, and cats but also with care for the purity of their own blood.” Hitler ascribed international significance to the elimination of Jews, which “must necessarily be a bloody process,” he wrote.

2018.05.16 20:09 peppermint-chip Me [26F] with my bf [26M] of three years, I'm uncertain what to do about my relationship in regards to progression.

TLDR; Been together with my boyfriend for three years, during this time he hasn't had a single job during the three years, His still living at home with his Mother and younger sibling his never once lived independently, to his credit he did recently finish a pre apprenticeship course however I am worried about furthering my relationship with this man for serveral reasons in regards to a commited household/future together. We don't live together at the moment mind you but my emotions on our relationship are mixed and I'm uncertain how to proceed.
(Sorry for format on mobile)
So, been together with my boyfriend for three years. Obviously I knew how he was when we first started dating and to be fair I figured he was working on himself. I was perfectly fine with it I myself came with some heavy baggage his the only person I've ever felt comfortable being open with in regards to all aspects of myself but before I mention anything more, yes I've been going to thearpy for almost two years now I am doing great I'll be done with it soon which is exciting! We grew up quite differently mine was rougher than his but it's not a competition his family have their own stuff too his working through but it was nice not having someones judgement on anything about my past.
I'm getting to the stage of wanting to have him move in but I promised myself that if I were to live with a man we would be engaged just a rule I have for myself and that I agree with from my Opa (R.I.P)
I haven't really had a talk with him yet on asking if he would be interested as he has always known my values on this subject he claims he wants to be together forever, have kids and I do honestly believe him. He is a kind, endearing, romantic man, our sex drives are as high as each other so we match there which is nice as that's important to me.
But what I'm struggling with is I've always had a job since 16 I haven't had anything to do with my folks really since than they are horrid people best thing I ever did for my sanity was going no contact.
I had no choice but to study my ass off and work really hard to become successful
I feel like his mother babies him too much and isn't harsh enough setting expectations but I haven't voiced my opinion on it completely but I have asked him what he plans on doing for study today since his recent interview fall through due to a medical report. He was fairly bummed about it and wasn't sure what was wrong with his medical test.
I told him he should call and ask what he failed on the medical test but I'm uncertain if his gotten around to it yet
I guess I'm use to being reliant on myself and the prospect of moving forward together I want him to contribute something, I'm certain it's not money I'm talking about I have a good paying job. I just want him to do something and be happy doing it, I guess? But somethings not sitting right within myself about his current situation and I'm wanting to marry, settle down, have kids (in a few years time) and countine being that annoying lovey dovey couple.
There have been times when his mother has made plans with him and his sibling at the last moment causing distributions in the plans we made, he'll push them back and appease his mother. I don't care that they spend time together infact I'm sincerely happy his family aren't like my own blood.
But the point is, regardless of our plans if his mother has booked tickets to a show without telling him I get put aside. I've asked him to get notice ahead of time so we don't have to replan certain things His mother did something similar when I had a hernia surgery all of a sudden that morning of my operation his being demanded to go with his family to sort out a will for his grandmother which I figure fair enough at the time, that's important. To be honest at this time we hadn't dated for a full year yet and I've never put reliability in people something that spawned from my childhood when I was sick I've been use to taking care of myself regardless.
I can't completely lie in the fact I felt let down when I was hoping to be looked after I did kind of shut down as he didn't see me the second day I was there either so I figured fuck it, I'll see who else can pick me up from hospital take me home and spend a few days actually being there I didn't want to risk being in pain and not having someone stick to the plan as I ended up in bed for about a week I almost got an infection from the surgery thankfully my friend was a big help got me to the doctors made sure I had my antibiotics, we figured out that I'm super sensitive to painkillers too and become far too depressed on them and all that it was a miserable time considering my body chose that week to give me my period it was on hell of a week that's for sure. I was sure to thank my wonderful friend for it afterwards with gifts & going to lunch/dinner They didn't expect it but appreciated it so it was a nice day and the first time anyone has actually looked after me while sick.
I clearly sorted out that issue with my boyfriend but the point remains the same doesn't matter if we don't have plans or have plans his mother is constantly doing things like that. If it's not shows, it's suddenly family plans, to making him run earns that completely ruin dates during the day we've organisated.
It bothers me to some extent clearly as I don't understand what's hard about getting your mother to respect your plans ahead of time?
I want someone I can depend on, completely, utterly and has my back. I don't expect him to go through things I know I can for another person's sake as we've lead completely different upbringings but I'm wanting to strengthen our relationship but so many things seem to be getting in the way be it by choice, accident or by forced circumstances no one can avoid.
The last example I have is he had to do his medical test Monday which I was cool with as work stuff is important.
We had booked a theapry session with my theaprist to go over some things about my upbringing that are best left in this setting as he wanted to know some thing in more depth which at the time I was comfortable with but now as I'm not certain about my relationship with him at the moment although I'd love it to be I'm now not comfortable letting him come to a session it was the second time I had to rearrange it because of his stuff basically.
I tried to talk to him a little bit about it over the phone today but seeing as I'll be seeing him tomorrow I'm going to be very straightforward about everything but at the same time I'm not excalty certain what these feelings are going on at the moment.
I'd also like to mention I am my boyfriends first girlfriend, but I don't think that's the reason why I feel uneasy all of a sudden.
Any advice would be great, thank you!

2017.10.21 05:21 tdd_bot [TDD] Friday Midday MAGAthread - 10/20/2017 - You can't have your yellowcake and eat it too! Edition.

Good afternoon my fellow Americans. DanWofSoc here with another Friday MAGAthread worth your importance. Looking forward to a nice, crisp, fall weekend so let's send you off with some red pills to dispense.

Russia..Russia..Russia

What is the number one golden rule that all liberals follow? Always accuse your opponents first of the fuckery you are guilty of. This Russian narrative once again proves this rule correct.
So let's break down the real Russian collusion story. Click here for a link to a letter from Senator Chuck Grassley to Attorney Jeff Sessions dated 10/12/2017 which outlines everything listed below.
  • Uranium One is a uranium mining company that was purchased in January 2013 by Rosatom, a Russian State-owned enterprise. This transaction effectively ceded 20% of U.S. uranium production capacity to the Russian government.
  • From 2008 to 2010, Uranium One donated $8.65 million dollars to the Clinton Foundation.
  • At one point in 2009, Uranium One was having licensing issues and owner, Ian Telfer, subsequently donated another $1 million dollars to the Clinton Foundation. That same year a deal was approved by The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States(CFIUS) for Rosatom(Russia) to acquire a 17% stake in Uranium One.
  • In 2010, Rosatom(Russia) sought majority ownership in Uranium One subject to CFIUS approval and Ian Telfer donated another $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation. In total, Ian Telfer has donated 2 million dollars to the Clinton Foundation through 2013.
  • By October of 2010, CFIUS certified to Congress that "there were no unresolved national security concerns with the transaction" which green lighted Russia taking over 20% of U.S. uranium production.
  • Does anyone want to guess who were ranking members of CFIUS at the time the sale of Uranium One to Rosatom(Russia) was approved? ----------------------->Hillary Clinton!! and Eric Holder!!<------------------------------
Now the interesting thing about Eric Holder, Attorney General of the Justice Department at the time, is that he was keenly aware of an FBI investigation into Rosatom(Russia) dating back to 2009. A subsidiary of Rosatom(Russia) named Tenex was the sole supplier and exporter of Russian uranium. Tenex director, Vadim Mikerin, was involved in a multimillion dollar conspiracy involving an extortion and money laundering scheme that awarded contracts to American companies to transport uranium in exchange for kick-backs.
So you are telling me that Eric Holder was aware of the investigation into Rosatom(Russia)/Tenex and approved the sale of Uranium One before the investigation into Tenex was complete? There couldn't possibly be any national security concerns here right? BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uranium is the key component to making nuclear weapons. What are we doing turning over 20% of our Uranium mining capacity to the Russians when we have no idea who they will be giving this uranium to in the first place. I'm sure Iran and North Korea would love to be on this trade list.
Also to note that Bill Clinton was paid $500,000 for a June 2010 speech in Moscow. It was a 90 minute speech and the largest speaking fee Clinton has ever received. The funds were paid by Renaissance Capital , a Russian investment bank whose senior officers include former Russian intelligence personnel. Renaissance Capital is famous for being outed as one of the financial institutions that received money from a Russian fraud scheme uncovered by Sergei Magnitsky who eventually died in prison eight days before he was set to be freed.
FIOA requests now reveal emails between The Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton aides prove that Bill Clinton was desperately seeking approval from the State Department to meet with 15 high ranking Russian officials before he attended his big payday in June. It is unclear whether Clinton's request was granted but we do know that Bill Clinton personally met with Vladimir Putin at his personal residence leading up to the speech.
If you missed it, Tucker had a great segment where he asserts that The Clinton Foundation has received as much at $145 million dollars in donations from investors of Uranium One and coincidentally, Renaissance Capital upgraded Uranium One's stock to a "buy" rating one month after Clinton gave his speech. This screams of insider trading abuse which is a FELONY!
My money is on Bill Clinton gave Renaissance Capital reassurances that his wife Hillary Clinton was going to make sure the the sale of Uranium One was going to go through by way of CFIUS approval. I'm curious to see which Obama administration officials and members of congress invested in Uranium One after Bill Clinton returned from his speech. Even $1 invested by anyone with knowledge of this deal should GO TO JAIL!!
Say it with me folks...............................................

Russian Collusion!!

2017.04.09 04:25 herbinger90 Took me 10 years to realize I was raped

I was in high school and had just had a falling out with my best friend. To fill that overwhelming loneliness, I became friends with B. B was a "cool" girl with a lot more worldly experience than me who smoked weed (back when it was "bad"), whose mom let her do whatever the hell she wanted and who had tons of experience with guys. I was a naive sheltered girl who was raised very conservative and was "saving myself for marriage". During one sleep over, her guy friend (C) and his friend (Z) picked us up to go see a movie. B had a boyfriend, but this didn't stop her from being very intimate with C. I was tired of being so sheltered and wanted to get more experience with guys. I'd never dated before. In my mind, this meant kissing and dating and holding hands; no guys had ever really shown much interest in me before, but Z did. We made out at the movies and I was thrilled. My stomach was flipping. I'd never done anything like it, I felt so grown up. When we got back to B's place, her mom was already in bed and B and C sat on the couch and started making out. I went into B's room to set my purse down and Z followed me in, closed the door, locked it, and aggressively started making out with me. It was intimidating and I should have said no, then. Red flags went off. Everything my parents taught me about this situation told me it was wrong. And B was too busy giving not her boyfriend a blowjob to care what was going on. He pushed me on the bed and I thought, okay, this is just making out, this is what you wanted, right? More experience? But then his hands kept going down to my pants, trying to unbutton them, trying to slip his hand in my underwear. I kept pushing them away and he kept telling me to relax, I'd enjoy it, he knew what he was doing, that girls enjoy "getting fingered". I was appalled. I didn't know what to do. I was pinned under him. I didn't want him to finger me. He kept trying and I kept pushing his hand away. I finally gave up and just let him, hoping that he'd just get it over with. I felt nothing. I was numb to it. When he was done, he said he was so turned on, he wanted to have sex. He knew I was a virgin and knew B must have condoms. I said she didn't and I wasn't about to lose my virginity while I could hear B's mom snoring in the next room. He tried telling me I was putting him through pain if I didn't, giving him blue balls, but I told him it wasn't going to happen, so he left and ghosted me, which wrecked me further, because he lead me to believe he cared about me and wanted to date me.
It took me six years for me to realize it was against my will. I thought because I "let it happen" that it was consent. And for four years, I thought it was assault. Just last night, I finally got the courage to look up the legal definition of rape and was horrified to realize I was, in fact, raped.
You guys, how could I not know I was raped? How could we be living in a society where I didn't know I had been raped? How can we make the definition of consent clearer to our children or to society? It's just killing me that I didn't know. How could I not know?
Edit: To make things clear, he put his fingers inside of me. I didn't want it. I tried telling him no. He wouldn't listen.
Edit 2: A few details to the story to clarify exactly what he did.
Because apparently this is necessary: Rape
Edit: I am in an immense amount of pain and had hoped to find some sort of comfort here and instead found judgement. Thanks for the support, ladies.
What he did is called sexual coercion, and it is not consent, for those of you who may still be confused.

2016.09.16 05:16 Thundastrike Me [24 M] with my now ex-fiancee [23 F] of four years, left me for her coworker

So, I had started this job that I was not fond of so that my fiancee(23 F) and I(24 M) could save up to eventually buy a house together. This job was taking a lot of my time, but I didn't think too much of it, because it was a short-term solution to the long term plan. Anyways, I eventually got fed up with the job, and decided I'd had enough of it, and my fiancee agreed with me that quitting was the best option, so I did it(I had another job, so I wasn't too worried about hurting our goals). One of the big things I was obviously excited about was spending more time with my fiancee, who was pretty upset, but understanding of the situation.
For about a month, I noticed that she was not herself, like something was wrong, and no matter how much I tried to talk to her about it, I got nothing. She was much less patient with me, she'd get frustrated very easily, and I even noticed she really wasn't into sex like we used to be before I quit the job.
This one day that month, though, she had plans with a friend of hers (late-20s M), to go to a baseball game. I was a little hesitant to her going, considering we didn't get to spend much time together, and now that we had more time, she was going out... but decided I really shouldn't be saying who she can and can't hang out with, and I'd have my whole life to spend with her anyways. So she went to the game, and I didn't think too much about it, until the next day, where I sent my usual "good morning" text, and didn't get a reply, even after I sent another text at lunch time, just in case the first didn't go through or something. Anyways, I was surfing Facebook that night, feeling a little down that she hadn't talked to me that night, and I saw she posted an album of pictures of her and her friend at the aquarium. Now, at first, that doesn't sound like much, they just extended their hangout time, and did something else... except that she had asked me to go to that very same aquarium a few times, and we hadn't had the chance to do it between the wedding planning and my job. I was furious, needless to say, and sent her another message, which she finally replied to, saying she was sorry, and she didn't know what to say to me that day, so she avoided saying anything.
So we move past that, but for the next week or so, whenever I would make plans with her, she either couldn't go, or would find out she wasn't able to hours before we had planned to meet.
Time moves forward a bit more, and we have a chance to hang out, she had a half-day at work, and since I work an early shift, I was going to be ready to get all romantic with her, and really treat her that night with a nice dinner and everything. However, when I got home, she was already there, despite telling me she wouldn't be for a little while longer. She told me to come out to her car, and I did. This is where she told me she wanted a break. You see, she wasn't sure she wanted to marry me anymore, because she was scared that she hadn't examined all of the "what if"s that her life presented her, and she couldn't go into the marriage with that. There was some key information missing from this pseudo-breakup though, and it was what those what ifs were, and how the break was going to go, whether we were just not spending time together, or if we were going to see other people, or what. I was left feeling more confused than anything, and she drove off, leaving me clueless.
A couple days of trying to pry information out of her later, and I see another post on Facebook, she happened to go to a festival that she and I had made a point to go to every year... with the guy she went to the aquarium with. Angry once again, I tried to figure out why she would take a break from me, only to hang out with another guy, despite the fact that she said she wouldn't be dating anyone else. The end result of the conversation was her telling me that she has feelings for this friend, because he was there for her when I was busy trying to prepare for our life together. Two days later, she came back to my house, gave me back the engagement ring, and told me it was over.
So, obviously angry, I tried to find out what this guy had that I didn't. In her words, he had a "spark" with her that she couldn't find with me. I think it was novelty, her getting excited because another guy paid attention to her, but it's probably not my place to decide why she chose him. Now here's the craziest thing she said: "I guess it was a bit of all of our faults, mine[hers], for getting so close with [her friend], his[her friend's] for approaching an engaged girl with the intention of breaking her up from her fiance, and yours[mine], for not telling her to not hang out with this guy" The first two, I totally understood, but the third made me even more furious, like she had completely forgotten that I had raised my voice with her when she hung out with this guy at the aquarium, or at the festival.
I also had no idea of the gestures he had given her, such as buying her flowers for the anniversary of her Opa's passing, or getting her medication when she was feeling sick one day(despite the fact that I didn't even get a message saying she was sick), and bought her tickets for various concerts and events she wanted to go to. She told me these things as if she had completely forgotten that I was there when her Opa passed away, driving her home to be with her family, and then sticking around for the funeral myself, or that I had bought her tickets to concerts she wanted to see, or that I had taken care of her on multiple occasions when she was sick. However, for some reason, what he did meant more to her. Anyways, yes, she left me because there was something in him she apparently didn't see in me, and I didn't understand what that was. I still don't, over a month later. I have no idea what I could've done differently, and I suppose all I'm looking for is a confirmation from someone who is not biased to the situation to tell me that what she did to me was wrong. My friends all tell me I didn't do anything wrong, but I find that hard to believe, considering they're all biased towards me, and in addition, I doubt she would've left me if I hadn't done ANYTHING wrong.
TLDR: My fiancee left me for her coworker because he was around while I was at a job that I was working to pay for our life together, and quit because it was taking away from that life.

2016.02.14 18:44 Mockfury THE LIST

OK, I have gone NC and the wolf is at the door. To relieve myself, and remind myself that I am not the crazy one, I have made a list of all of the situations my husband and I rant about together. This doesn't cover much of the stuff that happened when I was a kid, just the things that affect our relationship today. I was considering printing it out and handing it to FM, or giving it to a judge if visitation rights come up for my son. I am going to go ahead and post the entire labourious thing. Sorry if it is too much, or if I am actually the crazy one. I am pretty sure I am not.
If anyone does bother to read the whole thing, and has a drive-by diagnosis for my Dad, I would be happy to hear it. My nMom says he has a 'low self-esteem'. He sometimes throws violent temper tantrums. I was his darling little girl, so I have a skewed perspective.
  1. Cancelling babysitting at the last minute when I am on my way to drop off my child prior to a job interview because Dad and nMom are having a fight. Crying apology from nMom about how Dad is a monster afterward.
  2. Telling me that I had better not bother coming back to my old job after maternity leave.
  3. Whenever I had a dissenting opinion in the workplace, nMom would loud knock on the desk in front of her and proclaim to everyone around "I may as well be talking to this desk."
  4. Coming to help me clean up after I had a new baby, only to spend the whole time playing with the baby and tell me what a terrible housekeeper I am (don't you ever [email protected]?)
  5. Telling me my teeth are yellow. When I mention that my Mother In Law says that I have white teeth, say that MIL's just being nice.
  6. Pick up my child and say "Who Loves You, Baby?" When Hubby says "We all love him" nMom responds with "Not like I do."
  7. At the Shuswap, when Hubby tells his son to play outside, nMom loudly proclaims "He can play wherever he wants!"
  8. Make fun of [my Brother] when he's bowling.
  9. While bowling, nMom sits out because she doesn't want to play. Every time her turn comes up, she says to [my son] "GRANDMA will GIVE you HER turn, because she loves you SO MUCH." Hubby and I paid for bowling.
  10. When eating dim sum, when there is one last dumpling left, gives it to my son. "Well this one is GRANDMAS but you can have it because I am SO GOOD TO YOU." Tries to establish that [my son] owes her something.
  11. Insist that we not have our company logo on our truck after we start our own company and subcontract to them, because they do not want us to succeed.
  12. When a customer offers us a small side project, Dad stormed onto the job site and screamed at him until he rescinds his offer and stops doing business with Dad and nMom.
  13. Dad denies #12 happened and nMom denies knowing about it despite the fact that one of Hubby's coworkers and the customer himself contacted Hubby separately to discuss it. The customer asks "What did you do that your father in law wouldn't want you to be successful, at least for his daughter's sake?"
  14. When Hubby reports that a coworker is badmouthing his father in law, nMom says "Well you must be badmouthing us too if he said it to you."
  15. When I suggested [my Brother] get therapy for his ongoing issues, nMom says "But the therapist would tell him to get away from us." (In fairness, she is right. Three different therapists have told me to get away over the years).
  16. nMom disowns Mockfury when Mockfury tells them not to contact Hubby at work.
  17. After disowning conversation in 16, Dad calls Hubby and chants "Whiny little baby" at him over and over like they are in junior high.
  18. When I had a problem with my gait as a child, Dad and nMom would mock me in the hopes that I would stop doing it, instead of getting me assistance from a doctor. "We can see you walking from a mile away." nMom pretends that she used "Mind over matter" as a child to correct her gait - upon talking to my Grandmother I find that she actually had insoles. When I finally take my problem to a doctor nMom starts pretending that she has a foot problem as well.
  19. When I failed to pick up the phone one day, nMom throws a temper tantrum and announces that she will not be able to bring my tent in her motor home on a family camping trip (we are flying). When I say that I can have another family member do it, she says "Who would do that for YOU?" When we decide to stay in a nearby hotel instead, she whines and pretends like she would have brought our stuff all along, and we are being unreasonable.
  20. After [my Brother] does a bunch of driving for the purposes of nMom and Dad's company, [my Brother] finally joins as at a family get-together and sits down to relax. nMom immediately tells him to go sit at the 'Kid's table' in a less desirable location. When I defend him, nMom says that I may as well cut her 'damn head off'.
  21. After I send out an email asking for a $50 limit on my childs birthday present, Dad and nMom show up with a $300 toy which is not age appropriate.
  22. At my child's birthday party, nMom sulks on the couch in the corner and refuses to come to the table to eat. She was mad about something, I do not know what.
  23. After much prepping and practice, I decide to tell nMom that [my son] cannot blow out candles at everyones birthday, only his own. She throws what she is holding to the floor and storms into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. She refuses to speak to me for the rest of the evening.
  24. Dad and nMom send their other two employees across the country for training, but do not send their son and son-in-law.
  25. When I invite Dad and nMom over, nMom yells in the background of the phone call that she will not come to '[our] fucking house'.
  26. When my 18 month old is banging on the table with a fork, I gently tell him to stop. nMom says "He can do anything he wants!!"
  27. When talking to [my Uncle] and [my Aunt] on our own, it is revealed that they think Dad is horribly abusive to nMom. I believe this is from nMom lying to [my Aunt].
